In recent years, mindfulness has become a
buzzword in the world of self-care. The practice of being fully present and
aware of one's thoughts, feelings, and surroundings has been touted as a path
to greater happiness, lower stress, and improved mental health.
Several studies have looked at the
effectiveness of mindfulness practices in managing ADHD symptoms in adults and
children. One study published in the Journal of Attention Disorders found that
adults with ADHD who participated in an eight-week mindfulness meditation
program showed significant improvements in attention, hyperactivity, and
impulsivity. Another study published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical
Psychology found that people with ADHD who received mindfulness-based cognitive
therapy showed improvements in symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as
improvements in attention and executive functioning.
Play Attention is a unique approach to
improving mindfulness that combines neurotechnology and mindfulness training.
Play Attention’s neurotechnology called BodyWave®, helps users
increase their ability to stay present and aware in the moment because it
allows individuals to monitor their own brain activity in real time on a
computer screen, tablet, or cell phone. By doing so, they can learn to control
certain aspects of their brain function, such as reducing activity in the
amygdala (the part of the brain responsible for the fight-or-flight response)
or increasing activity in the prefrontal cortex (which is involved in
decision-making and impulse control).
Play Attention teaches mindfulness by using games and exercises that require mindfulness and attention. For example, Lotus is an exercise that allows the user to open a lotus flower petal by petal. The BodyWave® armband neurotechnology lets the user see their mindful state with the opening of each petal. If they lose this state, the petal will close. This is called a neuro loop; the brain sees what it is doing or not doing in real time. It can then change its own action immediately. This can lead to a greater sense of calm and focus in daily life far more quickly than ordinary apps like Calm or HeadSpace which don’t use neurotechnology. They allow the user to drift off or think of something else that may stress them. BodyWave® neurotechnology stops the screen action immediately alerting the user that their mind has drifted. This neuro loop feature enables the user to quickly enhance their ability to be present and mindful. This truly makes mastery of mindfulness far quicker and more effective.
Imagine yourself in the serenity of
Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop. A candle illuminates his desk. Your mindfulness
controls the brightness of the candle. da Vinci’s Candle is a Play Attention
app that helps it users’ minds to stay present and avoid distractions or
wandering thoughts. As a result, they are better able to notice when their
minds start to wander and bring their attention back to the present moment. Additionally, by tracking their progress
and monitoring their performance, users can gain insight into their own
patterns of mindfulness and attention. This can help them identify areas where
they need to improve and develop strategies for staying more mindful in daily
life. This also assists Play Attention users to develop greater resilience and
emotional regulation.
At its core, mindfulness is about being present in the moment. Play Attention offers a BodyWave® neurotechnology driven app called the Mindful Media Player. The Mindful Media Player allows you to view videos, listen to audiobooks, view affirmations, practice breathing techniques, puzzles of positivity, and more by your mind alone! To start the app, you’ll need to become mindful as detected by the BodyWave® neurotechnology. Once you’ve achieved a mindful state, you can play personal videos, downloaded videos, Play Attention’s beautiful affirmation videos, breathing technique videos, and puzzles of positivity videos. Should you lose your mindful state, the video will stop.
Play Attention’s Mindful Media Player teaches us to stay focused, present, calm, and centered in the face of
distractions and challenges. In addition
to the neurotechnology driven app interface, the videos themselves teach us new
ways to be mindful, affirmed, breathe, and positive.
